Debra Collins is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has provided behavioral health support to primary care, hospice, addiction, or school based community agencies throughout the San Francisco Bay Area for over 17 years.

In addition to working with agencies, she counsels adults and families in private practice to better discover their motivation to successfully change their behavior, find solutions to difficult life situations, and learn tools to alleviate their suffering and reach their goals.

Debra has consulted, provided trainings or presentations, for: Kaiser Psychiatry, Children’s Hospital of Oakland, Marin General Hospital, CASA, Global Citizen Year, Summer Search, YMCA Youth Service Bureaus, YMCA Urban Services, California Pacific Medical Center (Pediatric Oncology/Hematology) Global Citizen Year, Summer Search, Novato Youth Center, Services for Addiction Recovery – Family Service Agency of Marin, CCE State Bar of California, Novato Unified School District.

Debra received her B.A. in Television and Film Production from Cal State Northridge and her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. She has additional training in Motivational Interviewing and is a member of Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), Harm Reduction, SBIRT, Trauma Focused CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), Mindfulness Based Approaches.

Debra’s belief is that people can change, but often when they say, “ I can’t” they just haven’t found what will motivate them — yet.
